Diu Airport: Daman and Diu not a state, as we all know. It is one of the seven Indian Union Territories which is situated near Gujarat. The union territory is sort of an island neighboring Gujarat and Arabian Sea. Daman and Diu is a very beautiful city and often has tourist activities going on. The Daman and Diu Airport is as old as the nineteen fifties when Daman and Diu was a part of Portuguese India. It commenced its operations from Nineteen Fifty Five and connected flights to Goa, Karachi, Daman and Mumbai (the then Bombay). It was until Nineteen Sixty One that the armed forces of India bombed the airfield. This took place under the president ship of Shri Rajendra Prasad. The government of India attacked the Portuguese territory and took it under Indian republic.

Today the airport directly connects only one airport and that is Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, Mumbai. The runway of the Diu Airport is made of Asphalt and is 9229 feet long and a width of 45 meters. The airport hanger can accommodate around a hundred people and is newly built. The airport has two taxiways which are connected via a hanger which has an area of 540 square meters. The airport is a moderate one with all the modern facilities.
