Bhubaneswar Airport is considered as a beautiful and well maintained as per the reports which the government has provided. Cultured Odisha consists of only one airport i.e. the Bhubaneswar Airport so the maintenance of the airport is taken as compulsory element by the cleaners. The ICAO codification for the airport is BBI. It’s officially called as Biju Patnaik Airport. It is identified under the name of former Chief Minister of Odisha. The airport is being modernized and sustained by a well known company so called Lanco Infratech (Octamec) and the group of companies known as Monnet Group. It is stated as the 19th busiest airport as per a survey conducted in 2012.
The airport came into existence since 17 April, 1998 and has expanded its territory to about two terminals. Terminal 1 has been set up in 2013 spending a 145 crores consisting of 2 aerobridges, 4 types of elevators and various escalators with 16 check-in counters and so on. Terminal 2 is under construction for the renovation in order for the usage of international flights. The terminal would be utilized as domestic ones and the terminal 2 would be used as international purpose.
The airport is awarded as the best airport in India from 2012-2013 as per the CSI and from June 2013 it was awarded by Airports Authority. Bhubaneswar is proud to have such an airport.
